Merry Christmas!
The official day has already come and gone, and we had a great time with our families this year. I was honored to host both Christmas Eve and Day in our home. We got creative with extra tables and chairs, and my sisters and mother-in-law helped me prepare many dishes which, for better or for worse, still reside in my refrigerator.
What a whirlwind this year has been! We celebrated our 1-year anniversary and my sister's graduation from highschool, saw The Police in concert in Denver, moved into our first house, and traveled to Minnesota for Thanksgiving. Well, now that I've summed up our year, maybe those things don't constitute a whirlwind after all . . . but I remember thinking so a few times!
After much thought and discussion, I've decided to graduate a semester late. The four-year mark is this coming spring of 2008, and I'm so close, but an exciting opportunity snuck up on me which will demand a little extra time and energy. I will split up my remaining credits into two manageable semesters while directing the infant UCCS chapter of Lambda Pi Eta. I'm so excited. I'll be working with a girl I've gotten to know a little over the past two semesters, and we'll work closely with a faculty advisor. This new position will be a challenge. Yet, I've often questioned my place in a public university setting, so this test is an answer to prayer and an invitation to lead in a new way!
Josh still works at Compassion; he occasionally shares with me the hope his work brings to children all over the world. I usually ask far too many questions of Josh, because I'm so excited about what Compassion International is doing. I heard Dr. Wess Stafford speak once at a Sunday service, and when I approached him afterwards to meet him, he gave me a hug before I could say my name! He so effortlessly exudes passion for what he does.
Wow! This post has jumped all over the place. We simply hope to keep friends and family updated through this blog. I hope to avoid too much philosophical thought . . . at least that's what my husband suggested. I tend to swing in that direction from time to time. :)
